One big clue that RFID baggage-tagging is about to blow up? The Los Angeles Times is covering it. In an the mainstream media’s article, we came accross some meaty data:
For one, the Department of Transportation statistics showed that nearly eight of every 1,000 passengers in the U.S. arrived at their destination without the luggage they started with. That was up from about 6.5 passengers the previous July.
Secondly, Andrew Price, RFID project manager for the International Air Transport Association told The LA Times that RFID is being used at Hong Kong International Airport. McCarran and other airports are looking at implementation.
