Aware, a provider of imaging and biometric software, has announced that they have been chosen by Lockheed Martin to provide software and development services to Lockheed’s high-performance fingerprint card scanning service that they are working on for the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division. The program, called the Card Scanning Service program, involves the conversion of fingerprint, palm print and digital photos of criminals into electronic files for easy access by the FBI.
Aware is providing their AccuScan product that, in addition to a flatbed scanner, is capable of scanning fingerprint cards into usable digital biometric data. As AccuScan is an off-the-shelf product of Aware’s, they have also been contracted to provide technical analysis and custom modifications to their product to better enable it to fit the needs of the program.
