Lumidigm, a developer of biometric solutions, has introduced a new series of fingerprint sensors called Mercury sensors. The Mercury sensors were developed as a multispectral, compact and cost-effective solution to join the portfolio of offerings like the company’s Venus sensors.
Lumidigm maintains that the multispectral aspect of its sensors are capable of removing a number of issues experienced with other fingerprint sensors as well as improve its functionality in poor environments.
The sensors return a 500 dpi image via either USB or RS-232 connections and can serve a number of authentication methods including image output, template output, verification and identification. Additionally, Lumidigm is offering two different models of the sensors with one designed for high-performance and high-throughput applications and the other as a desktop solution designed for use as workstation authentication.
