The Bank of China and other major Chinese banks are deploying new bank terminals designed to reduce teller fraud in branch offices.
Miaxis Biometrics Co. LTD created the product by integrating AuthenTec’s TCS2 TouchChip fingerprint sensors into its Bank ID Terminals. Bank tellers will use their fingerprints to provide a unique identification marker, which will then provide a biometric audit trail of financial transactions.
The product came about through a 2011 purchasing agreement between Miaxis and AuthenTec, in which AuthenTec provides Miaxis will high volumes of its TouchChip sensor products. Miaxis is allowed to use the sensors in its fingerprint ID systems, USB readers and other products aimed for the Chinese banking and government sectors.
Miaxis and AuthenTec have partnered on products for many years. This agreement allows Miaxis to expand its profile in China, while giving AuthenTec a foothold in the country.
