The CBORD Group Inc. teamed with Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies to fulfill a full campus deployment for the more than 16,000 students at Miami University of Ohio.
The installation took only 90 days to complete and covered 40 buildings including residence hall rooms and campus facilities. It was completed while coordinating around the school’s summer conference schedule and more than one hundred projects on campus, including major physical facility upgrades.
For the installation CBORD worked with Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies and brought online more than 4,200 interior and 325 exterior doors. The integrated door access system uses the combination of CBORD’s CS Access access control solution, Schlage AD-Series locks, and the new technology-based Schlage aptiQ contactless secure student credential from Ingersoll Rand.
CBORD’s CS Access provides staff with lock monitoring and deployment features including “door propped” reporting. Also, if a student misplaces or forgets their ID card, a text message can be sent from the student’s cell phone to receive instant building or room access using a new CBORD feature called “OpenMyDoor.”
The Schlage aptiQ contactless smart card credential is an open-standards solution based on MIFARE DESFire EV1. Additional devices to be added at MU in the near future include laundry, vending, and printing; all examples of how the new credential can be used on campus.
