Mobilisa, Inc. has been awarded several contracts by the Air Force District of Washington, D.C. (AFDW) for ID card scanning equipment and support at its military bases. Mobilisa’s DEFENSE ID®, an advanced ID card system, uses a mobile, handheld computer scanner to check ID cards presented at any point of entry. The information is then compared to over 100+ databases of individuals who are wanted for criminal offenses or barred from military installations. The system works with military IDs, US and Canadian Drivers Licenses and other government ID cards and requires no need to issue special badges.
Mobilisa® to Provide Security for Air Force District of Washington
The Air Force District of Washington DC (AFDW) awarded Mobilisa, Inc. three contracts since August 15th for additional ID card scanning equipment and support totaling $301,599.31.
Mobilisa’s DEFENSE ID®, an advanced ID card system, uses a mobile, handheld computer to support military security and will be used as a first line of defense for preventing unwanted persons’ access to the AFDW military bases.
“This device is another tool used by the 316th Security Forces Squadron at Andrews Air Force base to enhance base security,” said Tech. Sgt. Greg Striejewske, Andrews AFB’s Visitor Control Center Manager. “Now security forces can quickly process individuals through entry points by screening them against multiple consolidated databases of either entry authorization lists or more importantly, lists of criminally wanted persons or individuals specifically not authorized for access.”
AFDW bases are home to Air Force One, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and to over two dozen General Officers.
DEFENSE ID® is a handheld scanner that quickly and accurately checks an ID card presented at any point of entry. The information that is scanned is compared to over 100+ databases of individuals who are wanted for criminal offenses or are barred from military installations. The system works with military IDs, US and Canadian Drivers Licenses and other government ID cards and therefore requires no need to issue or create special badges – a major cost savings.
DEFENSE ID® is credited in helping security personnel identify and prevent nearly 25,000 unauthorized individuals from gaining entry onto military and federal installations.
