Motorola is looking for mobile operators in India to trial its new iSIM (intelligent SIM) solution, says Telecom Yatra.
The iSIM is a flexible 0.4mm thick device that attaches to a phone’s existing SIM card to turn the phone into an NFC-enabled payment tool.
The device, which is compatible with all SIM cards, also allows phones to store up to
four IMSI (international mobile subscriber identity) profiles without having to change the SIM card.
According to Tarvinder Singh of Motorola India, the iSIM represents a new and innovative way to drive new applications from third party developers while lowering costs for subscribers.
Motorola is currently deploying iSIM in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) with Bipper, a Norwegian mobile web solutions company, and is also running active trials in China.
