Pay By Touch, a payment service that allows shoppers to pay for purchases or cash checks using a finger scan, recently announced a partnership with MTXEPS, a software provider for the electronics payment industry, that will open more retail doors for the finger scan technology.
SAN FRANCISCO – Pay By Touch has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with MTXEPS, Inc., a leading software provider in the electronic payments industry, whose payment application, WinEPS, is the core payment engine used by major retailers throughout North America.
“We are committed to making it as easy as possible to implement Pay By Touch,” said John Rogers, founder, chairman, and CEO of Pay By Touch. “The MTXEPS alliance enables any retailer to deploy the most recent release of WinEPS and seamlessly offer the Pay By Touch service to their customers. This union also allows merchants to offer their shoppers a safer, more convenient way to pay, while also making their Pay By Touch return on investment even more compelling.”
Through this partnership, MTXEPS and Pay By Touch will jointly sell, market, and support the integrated solution. Furthermore, the two companies are developing an integrated product roadmap so that customers will be able to easily take advantage of future enhancements.
“Pay By Touch is the leading provider of biometric payment services and is our preferred partner to enable biometric payments,” said Jon Elwood, president of MTXEPS, Inc. “We have seen strong demand for the Pay By Touch service, and as a result of this partnership, Pay By Touch will be able to significantly increase its reach into the marketplace through solution providers who have integrated WinEPS into their offerings.”
As a result of the MTXEPS alliance, solution providers such as Retalix USA and StoreNext will begin offering Pay By Touch to customers. Retalix USA has received an increase in customer requests for a more efficient age verification system – one of the key offerings in the Pay By Touch product suite.
“Retailers face increased liability and regulatory scrutiny on the sale of age-restricted items such as lottery tickets or alcohol. Our customers have been asking for a more effective way to validate the age of consumers, and now we’ll be able to offer the Pay By Touch age verification solution through the MTXEPS partnership,” said Martin L. Ramos, chief architect at Retalix USA.
Customers of StoreNext, the joint venture between Retalix USA and Fujitsu Transaction Solutions, will also benefit from the Pay By Touch-MTXEPS partnership.
“There are 20,000 independent grocery and regional chain stores that need to provide a faster and more convenient shopper experience with lower costs and outstanding security,” said Ray Carlin, CEO of StoreNext. “This new combination of Pay By Touch with MTXEPS’ established WinEPS software will be very exciting to this market, which we can quickly reach through StoreNext’s nationwide network of dealers.”
To date, the Pay By Touch consumer biometric payment technology is active in Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. stores throughout South Carolina as well as other retailers throughout North America. Pay By Touch plans to launch in additional retail chains later this year.
