Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y., has rolled out an off-campus payment program with the assistance of the CBORD Group’s Off-Campus Commerce Division. The program, Knight Card Account, can be used at 11 merchants around the community, with more scheduled to be added during the fall semester.
The university’s Knight Card Account is managed by UGRYD, CBORD’s proprietary central server transaction solution.
Many merchants in the Potsdam area already accept the discretionary accounts from nearby St. Lawrence University, Canton, and SUNY Potsdam. Restaurants, a supermarket, a printer and the UPS Store have already signed up for the program.
“Taking the Knight Card program to off-campus merchants is a win for the students, the local merchants and the university,” said Kurt Stimeling, dean of students. “By partnering with CBORD’s UGRYD platform, Clarkson is able to offer this exciting program without overextending our staff.”
“As we currently accept the discretionary account from another university, we have seen first-hand what a great benefit this type of program can be to our business,” said Jeffrey Prosper, general manager and co-owner, Potsdam Ponderosa. “Adding another option for Clarkson students allows us to deepen our relationships with both the students and the university, and the nightly ACH deposits make settling the accounts simple and easy.”
