NFC Forum adds Google to board of directors
06 March, 2013
category: NFC
The NFC Forum announced that Google has elevated its NFC Forum membership from Principal to Sponsor level, joining ten other organizations who have joined the Forum since November.
The Sponsor level is the highest tier of Forum membership and includes a seat on the NFC Forum Board of Directors, the association’s governing body. As with Principal level membership, Sponsor members can designate individuals to run for Forum leadership positions as well as assign a voting representative to each of the NFC Forum Committees and Working Groups.
Other Sponsor privileges include recommending Forum initiatives and participating in NFC Forum testing and certification programs using the Sponsor’s in-house test facilities.
To accompany Google’s new level of membership, the Forum has seen growth across all levels of membership, a likely reflection of the growing momentum and adoption of NFC. Further evidence of NFC support can be seen with particularly strong membership growth from hardware and components companies concerned with building new NFC-enabled devices.
