Orange Polksa has teamed up with mBank and MasterCard Europe to bring contactless mobile payments to Orange customers in Poland. Orange will offer contactless payments via a payment card located in a mobile phone.
Orange’s program stems from a pilot started in March 2011, where 2,000 customers piloted NFC payments. The company could implement the service as early as November but intends to make it available to its customers in the Polish market over the next year.
To conduct these payments, Orange is leveraging services from mBank, the first Internet bank in Poland and MasterCard.
Poland is the third country that Orange has launched mobile contactless payments. It brought them to France in 2010 and the UK last year. The company’s run trials in all of its major European markets.
