On Track Innovations has filed a lawsuit alleging that T-Mobile USA sells NFC-enabled phones that infringe OTI’s U.S. Patent No. 6,045,043.
The patent in question, “Contact/Contactless Data Transaction Card,” was awarded to OTI back in April 2000 and describes a semiconductor data transaction device “having contact and contactless modes of operation,” according to PTO Direct.
This patent is one of OTI’s 100 issued and pending patent applications encompassing product applications, software platforms, system and product architecture, product concepts and more in the fields of NFC, contactless payments, secure ID, petroleum and parking solutions.
The lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Case No. 12-CV-2224.
