Psion Teklogix and Viascan are partnering to provide a safe and secure method for tracking skier whereabouts at the upcoming 44th Annual Canadian Ski Marathon, with the use of RFID.
Twenty-two of Psion Teklogix’ Workabout Pro handheld computers will be equipped with Viascan’s ViaTrack mobile application and placed at 10 different check points to capture information on more than 2,000 cross-country skiers.
Data collected at each of the check points will be loaded into Viascan’s VServer and forwarded to the results center operated by Lixar I.T. Inc. The system will allow event organizers and security personnel to track each skier along the 160-kilometer course, should an emergency situation arise. The data collected will also be used for posting updates and results for event spectators.
Prior to Psion Teklogix and Viascan’s involvement, all skier data was manually recorded with pen and paper, often taking several weeks to consolidate.
