RedPrairie Corp., the consumer driven optimization company, has announced the integration of RFID technology into the yard management module of its Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions. The RFID-enabled system tracks trailers from gate check-in through check-out, enabling customers to reduce the time, cost and uncertainties of managing trailer movements within their campuses.
The new WMS Yard management release uses RFID readers at gates to read passive RFID tags on trailers as they enter or leave the customer’s yard. Within the yard, mobile readers and fixed readers installed in a zone pattern confirm trailer movements and support yard audits. The system includes event management capabilities to alert managers and initiate resolution to exceptions uncovered by the RFID reads.
The RFID-enabled yard management solution is contained in RedPrairie’s latest release of its Warehouse Management Solution. RedPrairie began integrating RFID technology into its WMS five-years ago and continues to develop new ways to apply the technology.
