Global Biometric Company to Install New Airport Security Technology At Paris Airports – Charles de Gaulle and Orly
TACOMA, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 6, 2003–SAGEM, the world’s largest biometrics company, announced that it has been awarded a contract by Aeroports de Paris (ADP) to install its biometric identity control technology in the restricted personnel areas of Paris’ two largest airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly. In partnership with OMNITECH, SAGEM’s fingerprint biometric technology will be used in authenticating the identity of more than 90,000 Paris airport employees with access to secure areas of the airports.
Under the terms of the contract, SAGEM is scheduled to begin installation of its biometric technology in both Paris airports before the end of 2003 and continue through the first quarter of 2004. The installed biometric technology will enforce security and increase physical access control reliability while minimizing personnel access to restricted working areas of the airport. The airport security systems are designed to leverage SAGEM’s core strengths in fingerprint biometric recognition technology, data encryption and contact-less smart cards.
According to Jean-Paul Jainsky of SAGEM, “The ADP decision confirms SAGEM’s position as the world-leader in biometrics and innovator of proven airport security applications. With over 100 fixed and 15 mobile security checkpoints, this biometric system will be Europe’s largest airport staff identity control system.”
