The Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a science, engineering and technology company, has announced the winner of their self-sponsored Biometric Research Competition hosted by the University of Kent in the UK and the UK Biometrics Institute.
The winner is Clemont Creusot, a graduate student and doctoral fellow at the University of York in the UK, whose research paper was titled “Landmark Labeling for 3-D Faces” and focused on new techniques for systems automatically finding key points on a face for face recognition authentication.
The winning entry, which was among entries from University of Cambridge, University of Kent, University of Portsmouth, University of Southampton, University of York and the University of Surrey, was judged on both technical quality and novelty of the findings by a panel of judges from government, academics and corporations with representatives from University of Kent, Foreign Commonwealth Office Services, Smart Sensors, UK Trade & Investment, and SAIC.
The competition was a result of an agreement signed by the SAIC to work with the University of Kent and the UK Biometrics Institute to help facilitate cooperation between academia, government and companies to push research and development in biometrics.
