Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has announced an award of $50,000 to the University of Kent in the UK to support its Biometric Grand Challenge competition, a contest that recognizes innovative work by doctoral degree candidates in the biometric sector.
Each submission to the competition consists of a research paper from which standouts will be chosen for presentations.
The winner of the competition is flown to the U.S. to participate with SAIC in the 2010 Biometrics Consortium Conference and Biometric Technology Expo as well as be invited to present their research to officials from SAIC at their headquarters.
The professors from University of Kent who are behind the competition are hopeful that the competition will drive innovative problem solving skills in the students and open doors for careers in biometrics not only for the winner, but for all students involved.
