Sisvel U.S. and the RFID Consortium have rolled out an ultra-high frequency RFID patent licensing program to promote rapid adoption of UHF technology.
By creating a single license that includes all patents essential to the EPC global and ISO/IEC standards, UHF RFID developers and manufacturers can now economically license essential patents in a single transaction.
An “early adopter” discount is available to those who those who act by March 2011 which will enable them to lock in the lowest available royalty rates for a five-year term.
“The UHF RFID licensing program provides greater certainty and predictability for users of this remarkable technology, and that will only increase as the numbers of both licensors and licensees in the program grow,” said Jim O’Hagan, RFID Consortium spokesperson and director of patents and technology for Zebra Technologies.
Participation in the UHF RFID licensing program and the RFID Consortium remains open to all holders of essential patents, regardless of whether they were involved in the development of RFID standards.
The Sisvel Group manages intellectual property, while the RFID Consortium is comprised of companies that own patents essential to the practice of UHF RFID standards.
