SkyRFID announced the availability of their new Gen 2 UHF metal mount tag designed for implementation in PDA’s, mobile phones, routers and other smaller computer and electronic equipment.
In addition to electronic equipment this tag can also fit inside the grips of handguns for RFID tracking of revolvers and semiautomatic handguns.
The tag measures 12.2 mm x 7.3 mm x 1.7 mm thick which allows it to fit inside the handgrip on either side of the magazine on handguns that have limited space for an RFID tag. The tag itself is ceramic with a silver antenna so it can handle gun cleaning solvents and also the shock of a weapons being fired repeatedly.
Read range for this tag is 50 cm using a portable hand held reader when the tag is directly attached to metal. The tag can be read at 1 meter when using Gen2 fixed readers or a door portal. For computer and electronic assets this tag will fit almost anywhere and with a 96-bit EPC , 512 bits user memory and a unique 64-bit tracking ID, it will accommodate a range of asset tracking solutions.
