A recent survey conducted by Wincor Nixdorf shows that a strong majority of French consumers are interested in using fingerprint scanning technology to secure transactions.
Out of 1,008 French consumers surveyed, a healthy 69% said they were in favor of scanning their fingerprint at the point of sale to secure electronic payments rather than punch in a PIN code.
Although France has become a hotbed for NFC innovation over the past couple of years, many French consumers are not yet convinced of the security of NFC transactions. According to the survey, only 28% of respondents said they were willing to switch over to a phone that could make NFC payments.
Moreover, contactless card payment technologies for purchases of less than 20 euros only drew 36% and 25% approval from respondents.
