Texas Instruments has launched its new 45-nm “WiLink 8.0” chip that integrates NFC, Wi-Fi, GNSS Bluetooth and FM transmit/receive technologies.
According to TI, the WiLink 8.0 is a combo chip family that embeds an NFC controller solution, enabling simplified NFC integration on any mobile device. Additionally, WiLink 8.0 solutions are paired and pre-tested with Secure Element technologies from Infineon and NXP.
At the system level, the five-radio WiLink 8.0 chip offers a 60% cost reduction, 45% decrease in size and 30% lower power consumption compared to traditional multi-chip offerings, according to TI.
WiLink 8.0 solutions are now available for sampling today to select mobile OEMs, and will be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 27 to March 1.
