Think&Go NFC, a French provider of mobile retail solutions, has announced the creation of an NFC-enabled Home Shopping system.
Designed to streamline the reordering of common consumer goods, the Home Shopping solution consists of a mobile app, a “Home Shopping board” and a Web site where consumers preferred services can be configured.
According to Think&Go, users place orders via the Home Shopping board, which contains 40 or so NFC tags – each representing a different service or product. Customers need only tap their NFC-enabled phone against a tag on the board to add that item to their virtual basket before checking out via a mobile payments systems such as PayPal. Orders are delivered directly to the customer’s home or to a nearby location for pick-up.
According to Think&Go, each tag on the shopping board can be reassigned to a different product by scanning the bar code on the product that needs to be reordered. The board is designed to be set up on a wall or on a refrigerator and consists of three areas: product ordering, local services, and brand services.
The Home Shopping solution is built on Think&Go’s NFC-Shopping platform, which manages the product catalog, couponing and special offers, and links to the retailer’s e-commerce installation to ensure fulfillment of the orders.
The board also enables users to access personalized information services for local business – such as movie listings at a nearby theater, bus timetables, a call to their pizza delivery or access to weather forecasts – with a tap of their NFC phone.
Retailers can also choose to offer daily coupons and gather consumer feedback through daily opinion polls via the board.
Berge added that his company will soon test the solution with vision-impaired customers selected by the “Institut de la vision” in Paris.
Think&Go will demonstrate its NFC-Shopping and Home Shopping solutions at NRF 2012 next week in New York City.
