Mobile aggregator txtNation has partnered with RapidNFC — Europe’s largest provider of NFC tags and related products— to launch a solution that supports direct carrier billing using NFC.
The Payforit service will enable users to tap their NFC-enabled device to a specified tag, launching a personalized interface. This interface will then allow for one-click payment via the mobile device without registration or a linked bank account.
Where previous solutions enabled only for bank-linked NFC payments, direct carrier billing via the user’s mobile network sends an SMS message to confirm each transaction. Payforit can use either 3G or 4G mobile connections and securely charges users for according to their monthly mobile contract or pay-as-you-go balance. The service also supports the use of WiFi, but these customers are prompted to provide their mobile number prior conducting the payment.
RapidNFC’s lends its support on the NFC tag end of the service, providing custom-printed Payforit tags. The NFC tag and billing service is compatible with the entire range of NFC products including cards, smart poster tag and promotional items like wristbands, pens and beer mats.
A spokesperson for txtNation explains that with the impending adoption of NFC by the mainstream public and the release of weve.com and Visa’s payWave apps the time is now for a one-touch, frictionless bill payment solution.
