UPEK, a developer of biometric solutions, has announced the release of their Protector Software Suite 2009, a biometric security software suite that utilizes a fingerprint sensor for authentication and now supports the Windows 7 operating system. Further, in their designing the software as Windows 7 compliant, their software is now also compliant with any fingerprint sensor supported by the Windows Biometric Framework.
The Protector Suite, in addition to being able to biometrically secure various offline programs, files and applications can also be utilized to access passwords for online accounts. Other capabilities of the suite involve being able to launch applications, switch user accounts and secure networks via fingerprint swiping. UPEK officials are also touting the suite as having a new, user-friendly interface making it a more commercially viable product for consumer-level usage.
