A UK sushi restaurant chain is piloting a contactless payments system for sales of $19 or less. Such a limit will cover most customers, since the average sale at the Japanese restaurant is around $15. Cardholders will just need to touch their card against the reader instead of entering a PIN or signing.
As part of an initial trial, 16 terminals are being installed for four weeks at two of Wasabi’s busiest locations. It is the first restaurant chain in the UK to trial a full integrated contactless payment system.
