WaveMark, provider of RFID-based supply chain solutions for hospitals and medical device manufacturers, and University of Massachusetts Lowell announced a collaborative effort to bring a new RFID product to market.
A team of students in the UMass plastics engineering program worked closely with WaveMark engineers to invent and refine a specialized RFID tag for hospital use. The new device improves hospital storage efficiency, enabling more products to fit into existing WaveMark RFID smart cabinets in hospitals.
WaveMark’s RFID-enabled smart cabinets provide real-time tracking of critical supplies used in health care and medical departments. The RFID storage units enable hospitals to improve cost containment, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Additionally, the cabinets offer locking doors that can be access via an RFID fob or PIN to identify the individual who accessed the product.
