Zetes, a biometric technology developer, has announced that they have been contracted by the Republic of Burundi for their military personnel census. The contract stipulates the development and installation of a system that will be able to enroll soldiers and manage data as well as the production of biometric ID cards.
Beyond the biometric data, the database that Zetes is tasked with creating will also contain data on soldiers such as biographical information to better perform certain human resources duties. The new military census project will follow roughly the same framework as the civil servants census project that was finished in July 2008. The military census is expected to run over a three to four week period and will finish with the issuing of biometric ID cards to all military personnel.
