UK expected to announce ID card contract next week
The £2bn biometric identity card project is expected to be awarded next week, according to The Independent. Finalists include Fujitsu, IBM, Computer Sciences Corporation, Thales and EDS.
Final offers have been submitted by Fujitsu, IBM, Computer Sciences Corporation, Thales and EDS. The program has been controversial and the procurement difficult. Eight companies were originally shortlisted but three, Accenture, BAE Systems and Steria, already dropped out.
