Massachusetts the first to fingerprint for gun licensing

One avenue in which biometrics could do something no other technology can is with firearms. Very soon guns will only fire with identity authorization, and now it looks as though gun purchase will be assisted by the technology.

In Massachusetts they have begun to include fingerprinting as part of the gun licensing process. It’s very quick, and very up to date. Anything an applicant does hours before applying that goes on his record is visible thanks to the speediness of the database retrieval. With biometrics, the license is also instantly reported to police for an immediate update.
