Unisys has announced the successful test of using multiple companies’ iris recognition hardware with a single system to allow the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to be able to choose multiple vendors for programs such as their US-VISIT program.
The US-VISIT program is a DHS program that collects biometrics from foreigners traveling into the U.S.
The successful test, which included hardware from LG Iris, AOptix and Global Rainmakers Inc., will enable DHS more flexibility with their choice of iris hardware to be used with the US-VISIT program. Unisys is showcasing their findings at the 2009 Biometrics Consortium Conference in Tampa, Fla.
