DigitalPersona, a biometric developer, has announced an agreement with IBM to incorporate its U.are.U 4500HD biometric software with IBM’s SurePOS 500 point-of-sale (POS) systems. The idea behind the new agreement is for users of the POS system to be able to identify themselves more quickly when performing a transaction as well as definitively track who is responsible for what transactions thereby better protecting against fraud while also streamlining operations.
Among the reasons the DigitalPersona solution is a viable solution for POS systems is its rugged design wherein it is resistant to both physical and chemical abuse. Additionally, its aesthetic design is expected to fit in with register station styles in industries such as restaurants and retail.
