Turkish Bank TEB has announced the debut of a new MasterCard payment card set to be officially issued to customers starting in July.
The bank will be the first to offer the product what it is calling “the next generation debit card” which contains a built in display for control and security.
The display feature makes it the first interactive card on the market. In association with NagraID Security, the MasterCard payment card technology works like a traditional debit card but has an small display window and touch sensitive button that when activated allows cardholders to view information.
Some of the uses include the ability to view passwords, account balances and spending limits with the touch of a button.
Additionally, the remote authentication capability of display cards make them very attractive to cardholders doing online banking or online purchases and looking to securely facilitate remote online transactions.
The launch in July will be the initial offering to test authentication functionality but furthering the technology even more is already in the works.
