BIO-key International has announced it will be releasing their first biometric identification and authentication platform secure transmission of captured fingerprint data to a secure server via smart phones, laptops and desktops.
BIO-key announced that the decision to create such a platform comes from its belief that more phones with biometric capabilities will be flooding the market in the near future and enterprise users of these smart phones will be craving a simpler but still secure way to access private networks and applications.
Furthermore, many in the biometrics industry agree that not only are typing out passwords and user names on mobile devices cumbersome, but not as secure as using a biometric mode for authentication.
The new technology from BIO-key was first unveiled to the public at the Burton Group Catalyst Conference, which deals with emerging technology that is expected to affect enterprise operations down the line.
