NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Diebold, Incorporated announced the introduction of CS Gold™ 4.0, the newest version of its campus card solution at a User’s Group meeting hosted by Kent State University last week. CS Gold 4.0 enables campus administrators to deploy a single robust card system that offers students, faculty and staff cutting-edge functionality and improved security.
CS Gold 4.0 incorporates several technological breakthroughs, including:
· The use of Oracle® 9i, which allows for clustering and total server redundancy for increased reliability.
· 170 standard report styles and added trend analysis features using Crystal Reports.
· Native Windows® 2000 programming, which eliminates the need for Nutcracker middleware and makes the software simpler to support.
· Windows XP support for the graphic user interface (GUI).
· Image import and export capabilities in the form of familiar .jpg files.
· The ability to deny transactions that might otherwise be allowed, for example a convenience store purchase from a scholarship account.
· Improved licensing for budgetary control and seamless upgrades.
“For us, the upgrade process to Diebold’s CS Gold 4.0 has been seamless to a point of being boring,” said Brian McCarthy, card office manager at State University of New York – Albany. “Straight out of the box we’ve been spectacularly trouble-free, to the point our users have not experienced any inconvenience. Our reports are running much faster and the quality of the reports we are getting is greatly enhanced with this new version.”
Originally introduced in 1999, CS Gold was the first campus card system built on advanced source code architecture. Its modular design applied the expertise gained over years of collaboration between Diebold and institutions of higher education. Built in a Microsoft® Windows environment, CS Gold offered innovation, without legacy issues.
“The investment we have made in the advanced development of this product has truly paid off. We now have what I consider to be the strongest card system in the industry,” said Bradley J. Stephenson, general manager, Diebold Card Systems. “We are offering our customers more enhancements, while providing the same high level of service and support they have come to expect from Diebold.”
The new CS Alarm Management™ module included in CS Gold 4.0 takes advantage of Diebold’s 143 years of security experience. It gives colleges and universities the ability to turn any workstation into a monitoring station. CS Alarm Management can automatically activate administratively pre-programmed responses in case an alarm is triggered. Features within the module allow for e-mail notification, calls and file processing when an event occurs. The ability to activate alarm functions, arm motion detectors and call an on–duty law enforcement officer are just a few of the options available through this new module.
Another example of the expanded functionality of CS Gold 4.0 is shared accounts, which allows married couples and siblings to draw from the same account, rather than having two separate accounts. Business departments and faculty can also use shared accounts for copiers and printers, in order to allocate costs to specific departments or cost centers.
Diebold currently offers several separate host applications as part of CS Gold 4.0: CS Meal Plans, CS Stored Value & Credit, CS Access, CS Entitlements, CS Web Attach and now, CS Alarm Management.
