Frost & Sullivan has awarded its 2011 European Customer Value Enhancement Award in NFC Smart Cards Services to France’s Twinlinx for its MyMax NFC sticker solution.
MyMax enables users to transform virtually any phone into an NFC handset by simply tagging it with a MyMax NFC sticker. The sticker can be used as a payment solution, as transit proof, an access key and more.
The solution is compatible with most types of Bluetooth enabled mobile devices, including Samsung, HTC, LG, Nokia, Sony, Motorola, and Blackberry smart phones. The company says it will soon launch a sticker compatible with iPhones as well.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement is presented to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products.
Frost & Sullivan chose to award MyMax because it is an “easy to deploy, low cost, independent, multi-application product that effectively meets most existing contactless standards.”
“One of the factors driving Twinlinx’s MyMax as a value enhancement is that the sticker can be applied to all types of mobile customers, regardless of the type of device they carry,” says F&S Research Analyst Mario Fernandez. “As a real innovation, the sticker has its own battery. An ‘on/off’ button on the sticker allows the activation or deactivation of the internal battery to save power when not used with the phone.”
The sticker can work as both a passive sticker and a contactless reader connected to the phone. Peer-to-peer mode allows the user to exchange information with other NFC enabled devices or handsets.
“MyMax is available with different secure elements such as JavaCard, Micropass, Mifare and CD21,” adds Fernandez. “The ability to be used with different secure elements is a real value-added proposition to the end user; there is no need to have different cards to access different services and the sticker is immediately compatible with the applications in place.”
According to Frost & Sullivan, many solutions from the NFC industry developed over the last decade have failed to achieve successful commercial deployment. MyMax’s ease-of-use and ease-of-installation have been its unique selling points and have increased its value to customers.
