Ohio is considering a bill that could make it more difficult for students to vote. It would require a government issued photo identification card but won’t recognize student ID cards even if they’re issued by public universities. North Carolina is looking at similar legislation.
The Ohio bill would limit the options that voters have to prove their identities when they cast their ballots in person. Under the proposed plan, a current or expired driver license, an alternative state identification card, military identification or a U.S. passport would be required.
