The City of Calgary has selected Telvent to implement a contactless smart card based Electronic Fare Collection (EFC) system for Calgary Transit’s light rail and bus network.
Calgary Transit, which services some 94 million passengers per year, has opted for a contactless system in order to provide a “more convenient method to pay for fares,” says the organization. In addition, Telvet’s new system will allow Calgary Transit to obtain information from field fare collection equipment, customize fare policy, and offer other flexible methods of payment.
Based in Spain, Telvent has already executed a range of transit management projects in Europe, North and South America and the Asia Pacific region, accounting for more than 2.5 billion passengers worldwide.
