Shaun Oakes, a biometrics business man, in conjunction with technology developer Design Network North have developed a new fingerprint solution that takes into account some of the issues that fingerprint users regularly encounter, such as unusable fingerprints as well as not being able to work in poor environments such as cold or wet weather, according to a NE Business article.
The solution, called the iEvo Reader, utilizes multi-spectral imaging to scan the surface 4-milimeters below the skin’s surface so as to make issues dealing with dry, dirty, wet or even latex gloved fingers negligible.
One of the main thoughts behind the development of the reader is that most fingerprint readers are designed in the east where most physical access control occurs indoors, the west tends to have different needs.
Due to this they have already been implemented at UK construction sites, offices, schools and embassies, but also in places in Australia and the Middle East.
