DigitalPersona has announced that its U.are.U 4500 line of fingerprint readers were successfully integrated into and used in 180,000 voting machines provided by manufacturer Diebold for use in the 2010 Brazilian national elections.
In addition to providing the units, DigitalPersona also worked with Diebold to ensure the new solutions for Diebold were taking full advantage of the imaging capabilities of the fingerprint readers.
Diebold chose the U.are.U 4500 line of fingerprint readers as DigitalPersona had a proven track record of products being used in national elections as well as their manufacturing capabilities of building and shipping 180,000 units over the course of three months. In addition to this, DigitalPersona’s solutions were able to be quickly and easily integrated into the Diebold voting machines allowing for a quick turnover once Diebold won the contract from the Brazilian Tribunal Superior Electoral.
