Chinese handset maker ZTE Corporation has announced the launch of Touch and Share, a new service that enables users to quickly establish Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity between their mobile devices via NFC.
According to ZTE, devices that feature Touch and Share are able to connect instantaneously without the need for users to scan for and match terminals, input passwords, or perform any other manual intervention. Users simply choose content to share, e.g. images, videos, internet connections, etc., and tap their NFC-enabled handsets together.
“ZTE Touch and Share is a combination of NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi,” explained Kan Yulun, ZTE’s vice president and CTO in the Handset Division. “The core protocols we have incorporated into Touch and Share enable users to link up devices without the requirement to manually find and then make a connection – either smart phone-to-smar tphone or smart phone-to-wireless Wi-Fi routers are possible.”
ZTE added that Touch and Share may also be used in future developments involving social networking or mobile gaming.
