The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd., Aavin, in Chennai, India has gotten off to a rough start, with many participants complaining about incorrect data stored on government-issued smart cards, reports The Hindu.
This past Saturday, consumers and milk suppliers were able to verify information for issuing smart cards, but Aavin supplied incorrect or incomplete information in many cases.
The verification phase covers about 5,000 consumer cards. Many customers discovered a lack of organization around the verification process, with forms missing or confusion among forms.
Aavin will now use college students to verify the information for the smart cards, rather than use milk suppliers to do the work.
Holders of the smart cards will be able to purchase Aavin milk at a discount. About 550,000 households have cards.
