NYU doctoral student Napa Sae-Bae is researching the concept and has developed a system that may work with existing touchscreens.
The app tracks gestures of a user on a touchscreen and analyzes the movement pattern through variables such as speed of the gesture and finger angle and spacing. It can then grant or deny access based on the user information it has stored.
The app would be able to work with existing hardware and would be an alternative to login with passwords.
