Technology pulls India’s traditions into this century

India’s rate of mobile technology adoption has fueled a great deal of change in how the country operates, which may help lower the tradition of corruption and graft the country is known for, writes Manju Bansal of SAP on Forbes.com.
Mobile technology has made life easier and perhaps safer for many of the country’s citizens. Customers can make cheap or free calls to vendors for goods; females can employ safety mechanisms to travel around and businesses use technology to increase productivity and efficiency.
Technology has also increased the level of transparency in government, with the UID project being a star project of the administration. GPS-enabled systems in auto-rickshaws prevent fare gouging, and social media helps police departments work with and respond to citizen requests.
While India’s citizens are pleased with the country’s more toward more technology, it may come at the price of surrendering private data, the long-term implications of which are still unknown.
