Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies has added magnetic stripe reading capabilities to its aptiQ proximity and smart card reader. The new features enable use of more cards including MIFARE Classic and MIFARE DESFire EV1.
This reader can facilitate migration from a magnetic stripe-based system to one that’s dependent on proximity or smart cards. The readers are also compliant with NFC specifications to enable future migration capabilities to mobile credentials.
The readers support 125 kHz proximity and the aptiQ smart cards with either 13.56 MHz MIFARE Classic or MIFARE DESFire EV1 technology. Most 13.56 MHz credentials are compatible with the readers. They are FIPS 201-1 compliant and are approved for HSPD12 and PIV capabilities.
