Tribeca Film Fest tests NFC tag promotion
HID Global and Tamoco, a mobile marketing technology and analytics provider, announced the use of HID Trusted Tag Services in a promotional campaign for Tribeca Film Festival 2014. Over the course of the four-day promotion, film fans seeking free passes “tapped” promotional posters 8,195 times with 1,156 unique mobile devices.
Tamoco embedded trusted tags into promotional posters on display at retail outlets participating in the Film for All Friday campaign. Fans who visited these locations in April 14-17, received free tickets simply by tapping the posters with an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet.
Unlike QR codes or traditional NFC tags, the data read from trusted tags includes security attributes that change on every tap, making any attempt to share, clone or manipulate easily detectable. These features give Tamoco the ability to verify proof of presence.
Palm vein physical access scanner available
Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. announced availability of the PalmLock biometric access solution for SAP users in the Americas. The PalmLock solution combines Fujitsu’s PalmSecure palm vein imaging technology with realtime North America’s bioLock access management software so SAP users can combat fraud or access by unauthorized employees, consultants or hackers.
Fujitsu Frontech North America will distribute the PalmLock biometric access solution for SAP through its network of channel partners.
PalmSecure technology relies on Fujitsu’s PalmSecure biometric technology, uses a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users.
Intercede adds machine-to-machine ID
Intercede announced that the latest version of its MyID identity and credential management software now gives organizations the capacity to issue and manage trusted identities for machines.
Trusted Platform Module-protected machine certificates can be used for strong authentication to verify the identity of devices that connect to an organization’s network.
The development comes as the Internet of Things becomes increasingly prominent, and is designed to help combat the inherent threats that it poses. Organizations must have absolute confidence that the devices connected to their networks are the devices they claim to be. Early adopters are expected to come from high-security industries, and Intercede will soon commence provision of secure device identities for a major European multinational aerospace and defense corporation.
The addition of device identity management functionality is part of the release of Intercede’s MyID v10.0, which also includes Windows 8 virtual smart cards and a self-service app and kiosk for simple credential lifecycle management. Device identity is supported on TPM-equipped Windows devices.
