Secured Digital Applications, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide a web-based tracking system using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology at a major microchip production facility in Asia. The installation will provide personnel access control and tracking in real time using RFID technology, in which information is provided to IT systems via wireless communication with RFID tags, Lim explained. Secured Digital’s RFID readers will capture data from access tags located within three meters. In addition, the RFID system will provide for controlled access to sensitive areas and permit surveillance cameras and video recording equipment to be triggered when certain user-specific RFID events occur. This application will eliminate the need for many of the traditional manual security procedures needed to secure the manufacturing facility.
