The supply chain technology solutions provider, RedPrairie, has opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai, China. With an initial staff of twenty, the office will grow to sixty employees by the end of 2004, and will be responsible for sales, customer support and product development for the Far East.
The firm’s new Asia-Pacific headquarters opened earlier this month (December 2003) with an initial staff of twenty. During 2004 the office will be systematically expanded with sales, support and development personnel. This office will lead RedPrairie’s sales efforts in China and throughout the Far East.
“Creating a strong presence in China supports our global customers as they grow their Asia-Pac operations,” said RedPrairie’s John Jazwiec. “The result will be enhanced worldwide operations and improved local support for our global customers.”
When the company began to increase its Asia-Pacific operations, a number of offshore locations were considered. But, although most locations offered favourable cost models, the availability of a large and highly skilled workforce with good computer and language skills – and its proximity to several of the firm’s global clients’ Asian operations – made Shanghai the best choice for the new headquarters.
RedPrairie helps its clients drive down logistics costs through supply chain systems that provide greater efficiency and reduced labour requirements, through its DigitaLogistix suite of supply chain execution solutions that provide RFID-enabled transportation, productivity, and distribution management capabilities, with action-oriented components for real-time visibility, control, and performance measurement.
