EPC Gen2 Chops into the Scene With ‘Ninja’ Inlay
Omron RFID today announced the availability of its new “Ninja” inlay.
The silent-but-fierce prop is ideally suited for item-level tagging applications.
The Ninja inlay, designed to fit under most labels found on pharmaceutical bottles, provides up to a four-foot communication range. This performance overcomes many of the issues encountered when using UHF item-level inlays for pharmaceutical applications.
OMRON Introduces EPC Gen2 “Ninja” Inlay; Solves read performance barriers with item-level tagging, bulk reading applications in three major regions of the globe
SCHAUMBURG, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 28, 2006–Omron RFID (www.omronrfid.com) today announced availability of the Gen2 “Ninja” inlay which is ideally suited for item-level tagging applications. The Ninja’s read performance is consistent in air, on individual plastic bottles and in bulk reading applications.
The Ninja inlay, designed to fit under most labels found on pharmaceutical bottles, provides up to a four-foot communication range. This performance overcomes many of the issues encountered when using UHF item-level inlays for pharmaceutical applications.
The EPC Gen2 UHF standard achieves faster data transfer rates as compared to the HF ISO15693 standard.
“RFID pilot programs conducted by the pharmaceutical industry have experienced difficulties when trying to read all bottles packed tightly within a single case using UHF item tags,” notes Omron’s Chief Strategist Bill Arnold.
“The Ninja has been designed to alleviate this difficulty and provide a reliable UHF item tag option to pharmaceutical companies. It’s now possible to use the EPC UHF Gen2 global standard for tracking applications at the item, case and pallet levels. A single RFID frequency band solution has great potential to simplify RFID implementations and help companies achieve a faster ROI.”
With the addition of the Ninja to its Wave and Loop global inlay products, Omron provides UHF Gen2 solutions for UHF tagging requirements for international supply chain markets.
Omron’s UHF inlays are manufactured in Japan on production lines with combined annual capacities of more than 250 million inlays. Omron has sales and distribution centers located around the world.
