biomMETRX Launches Biometric Garage Door Openers
02 January, 2007
category: Biometrics
The first in a line of biometrics-based garage door openers have been shipped to consumers by bioMETRX, an industry leader in biometrics solutions. The initial order is for around 1,200 units, thanks largely to the product’s spot on HGTV’s “I Want That!” Also keep an eye out for the biometric garage door opener to make an appearance on the popular “It Takes A Thief” on the Discovery Channel.
The door allows for users as young as five to come and go as they please through the use of a wireless fingerprint scanner which allows for access through the garage door. biomMETRX says it plans to ship as many as 30,000 units to consumers in the first quarter of 2007.
bioMETRX, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BMRX – News), a leading developer and supplier of finger activated solutions, announced today that it has started to fulfill orders for its smartTOUCH(TM) finger activated garage door opener. After it was featured on HGTV’s “I Want That!” in January, the company’s website generated approximately 1,200 orders for the unit, which commenced shipping today.
“Our company has enjoyed an enormous amount of interest in the smartTOUCH(TM) Garage Door Opener, a wireless finger activated garage door switch that allows children as young as 5 to come and go without a key,” stated Lorraine Yarde, Chief Operating Officer for bioMETRX, Inc. “Since its debut, we have received a large order from The Home Depot, and we are in serious negotiations with several other big box retailers. In addition, our product has caught the interest of the three major garage door opener manufacturers,” added Ms. Yarde.
The company’s product will be featured on The Discovery Channel’s reality show “It Takes a Thief” that is scheduled to air in January. “It’s a very exciting time for our company as well as the biometrics market and the residential garage door market. Anticipation for this product has been building for several months and we are proud to say that we are now delivering,” stated Ms. Yarde.
Based on orders already received, bioMETRX is on target to ship in excess of 30,000 units to consumers, distributors and retailers by the end of the 1st quarter of 2007 and expects to ship over 150,000 in 2007 for the U.S. Market.
