Arnotts, one of the oldest and largest department stores in Dublin, has become the latest to offer contactless payments in its retail stores, according to Silicon Republic.
The contactless system was deployed in partnership with AIB Merchant Services and Visa Europe, enabling shoppers to simply touch their contactless cards against a terminal on the counter to pay for goods, and without having to use a PIN if the transaction is less than €15.
The technology is designed to improve the customer experience, speed up purchase processes, while also reducing the need to carry cash or go to ATMs.
This deployment follows pharmacy chain Boots going live with contactless payments in October and BWG Foods who is also in the process of rolling out contactless payment systems at Spar, Eurospar and Mace stores across Ireland.
